Kilt Sizing
The mainstream fashion industry has been lying to you for years… that “Waist” size on your jeans has nothing to do with inches, centimeters or any other standard measuring system. They just made it up.
But we at Utilikilts know that size is important, so we give every inch its full value!
Guys, it is this simple: to find out your size, all ya gotta do is throw a tape measure around yourself and read the number. Then measure from there to the bottom of your kneecap. No guessing. No trying on 10 different kilts to get one that fits right. No worrying about whether one model is measured the same way as another.
Simple, but important! Don’t guess, don’t estimate, don’t use a piece of string and a metal tape measure, and if you have any questions whatsoever, CALL US. If you order the wrong size and need to exchange your kilt, you will be charged a $20 restocking fee and a reshipping fee (minimum $15.75). It’s an expensive mistake, so please, take your time, do it right, and if you have questions, CALL US: 206.282.4226. (And please: if you’re thinking of buying a Utilikilt as a gift, may we suggest our gift certificates? They’re NEVER the wrong size.)
Below are some pictures for you to figure our your size. Then you can give us a call and order your kilt!
STEP 1 : Measure Your Belt line
Run a tape measure through your belt loops (as shown in the image
above) and pull snug (to the tension you’d normally wear your belt at) to get your Belt Line measurement.
STEP 2 : Measure Your Length
The waistband should sit on your hips where your pants
normally ride. The hem should rest between the bottom and center of
the kneecap. The illustration above will most often put the
length of the hem at the bottom of the kneecap (Utilikilts
lengths vary 1.5″). Use a yardstick for this measurement.
BEWARE! Bending over to read the yardstick will skew the measurement, read it
in the mirror or ask for assistance in this measurement. Good Luck !
For Those Cross-Dressing Ladies
You know what, ladies? It is just easier if you call us and we talk you through it on the phone. Utilikilts are made for men, so sizing them on women is a bit of an art. If you wear low-rise jeans then the conversation could go pretty quickly. If you are an hourglass figure it might take longer…
