New Standard
The New Standard is a completely new design (based on Utilikilts’ first design, The Standard) that is sleek and “Oh sooo suave”. The yoked top saves material and results in a lighter weight Utilikilt. Unlike our wrap-around Neo Traditional models (as in, all the other models we make), the New Standard is a step-in model. The New Standard comes with the a detachable and minimalist apron front, and Neo-Traditional style rectangular apron fronts in both black and heather grey can be purchased separately for $35 as an addition to the already complete New Standard. The apron pieces are completely removable and interchangeable, so you’re essentially getting two different Utilikilt looks for the price of one!
The new inverted inner apron provides the same coverage as our regular Neo Traditional designs. This streamlined new model boasts the same roomy side saddle pockets as the Original Neo-Traditional and the rear of this one is pocketless for a more flattering profile of your derrière.
We are currently offering this new Utilikilt in both black and heather grey 8.5 ounce poly/cotton twill.

It’s the Name That Kilt contest!
Right now, this Utilikilt’s working name is the New Standard. But that’s just not…. it. It’s not splashy, it’s not badass, it’s not really what the kilt is about. We need to find a name for our new bold, progressive, futuristic Utilikilt, and we need your help.
Now, just like all contests, we got some rulez up in this house.
- 1: Purchase REQUIRED. You must own a New Standard to enter the contest. This is because we need you to experience the kilt in order to come up with a good name for the kilt. Like naming a food without tasting it, naming a kilt without wearing it is just plain wrong. (Don’t worry! Anyone who has previously ordered a New Standard is automatically eligible.)
- 2: The Name That Kilt contest will run from Thanksgiving 2011 to New Years 2012.
- 3: Once you own a New Standard, you may enter as many times as you like.
- 4: Once you’ve submitted your naming ideas to us, they’re ours. We may not use them for this kilt, but we’ll definitely log them into our consolidated works of Utilikilts Creative Love, and may use them down the line.
What’s the payoff? If you’re the lucky winner, we’ll hook your badass up with $$$kilt credit, to use to purchase anything in our store, and you will be the first to receive our NEXT new model, which will make it’s debut at the dawn of the apocalyptic new year.
