The Scratch & Dent List

It’s true… making kilts is an exacting business, and we have incredibly high standards. So when something comes off the production line that is less-than-perfect, we discount it and stick it on the Scratch & Dent rack.

Sometimes we also get kilts that people trade in, and the amount of use they have had can vary widely. Get that perfectly broken-in Workman’s, or an almost-new Mocker. Who knows?

And every once in a while, something gets stained or damaged. So – whoosh! – onto the Scratch & Dent rack.

Every month we update the Scratch & Dent list and publish it here, ONLY for our readers of the Newsletter. This list is only published once a month and isn’t updated, so give us a call to make sure that one particular kilt you want is still available.

The List

The guys are doing Inventory this weekend, so we will have an updated Scratch & Dent List for you later this week. In the mean time, here is last month’s list. Call if you see something you want!!

Utilikiltarians

July 25th, 2007

UK’er of The Month

Scanning the horizon

He’s got great hair, a groovy name, a Chevy Nomad, lots of freedom, and he keeps his brain in his head (not under his kilt). Read more about this paragon of freedom in this month’s Utilikiltarian of the Month interview with:

Laeljon Knowles

And hey… do you want to win a free kilt? Have you got a good story to tell and some great photos? Then enter the Utilikiltarian of the Month Contest!

@Work Photo

The underlying principle of Utilikilts is that Form Follows Function. That seemingly simple concept drives everything we do. Many of our customers find that their jobs are made easier, more comfortable, and generally more satisfying when they wear one of our kilts. We like to highlight these people in our @Work photo every month.

Eric with Metallica

This month, we salute:

Eric Bjorkquist
… on the road with Metallica …

Traveling the world, fending off mad groupies, working with one of the biggest bands and shows on the road today, Eric relies on his Workman’s utility kilt for the breeze, the tool space, and it’s long, hard-wearing lifespan.

Hey Guys
So here are some photos of me in my Workman’s kilt. I really enjoy wearing them. I also have a Mocker. So far I have worn my kilt in China, and now that I am on tour with Metallica in Europe I can include Vienna, London, Oslo, Stockholm, Aarhus, Helsinki and soon Moscow. Looking forward to a picture in Red Square with Lenin over my shoulder!
Thank you for making such cool, comfortable, and different clothing!!!!!!!!

Letters

From his heart, in the very heart of Europe…

My wife brought me your Workman´s from her trip to Seattle – what to say – it is a great feeling! I just thought you do not get that many customers from The Czech Rebublic, the very heart of Europe, so I thought this note might please you. You bet you have keen promoter even
in this country far far away:)

Prague, Czech Republic

Let us know when you need more business cards, Daniel! We are always happy to have more Europeans on board… - Ed.

Alabama girls like kilts too!

hey guys.. so i want to seattle for vacation… and ran into one of ur boys in front of the store! the bad thing is i never did get his name :( here’s a picture for ya…

Ah yes… El Jefe hooks another cute blonde, with his winning smile. Y’know, ever since the summer tourist season started, I keep getting photos of our Salesdudes from *girls*. Proving once again that men in kilts are irresistible! - Ed.

We serve those who serve us

Just was looking at the site. Been a while since I was on it last, and its changed a bit. I’m not one to write e-mail to companies but I just wanted to say that I have had mine (OD Original) for a little over two years now and it’s by far one of the best articles of clothing I have ever purchased. Being from Seattle I was somewhat accustomed to seeing them from time to time but living in Virginia Beach, VA it’s a head turner and a great icebreaker at the pubs. I’ll be returning in the fall and plan to get at least one more.

Gordon Coleman, DCC(SW/AW), USN

Steven Responds:
Rock-On !
Glad to be here for ya.

MySpace: not just for kids any more!

Gerard leaves this comment via our MySpace page: I must say your sales people are excellent. On my last day of vaca in Seattle I was killing time before my red eye back to Philly. I stopped in your store just to waste time. I left with a mocker kilt and a belt. I am loving it.

And it appears the addiction has started… Gerard has since left another comment asking which model should be his NEXT kilt! (Personally man, I’d say go for the Survival. You have the Mocker, and the Survival is the uber-hotrodded Mocker.) - Ed.
